Assembling or adjusting the equipment in an uprightposition may result in serious injury.Follow the warnings and precautions in the chapter “Safety•precautions” and the instruction manual of the power unit.Resharpening the cutting toolWARNING:Do not resharpen cutting blades by yourself. Manual resharpeningunbalances a cutting blade and it can cause vibrations and damageto the equipment.Ask Makita authorized service center to resharpen and rebalanceblunt cutter blades.Rewinding the nylon cutting cordWARNING:After rewind the nylon cutting cord, make sure that the cover of thenylon cutting head is secured to the housing. Otherwise the nyloncutting head may fly apart and it may result in serious personalinjury.To rewind the nylon cutting cord, follow the steps below.Press the latches1. (A) and remove the cover (B). Remove theremaining nylon cord.BAHook the middle of the new nylon cord to the notch located at2.the center of the spool (C). One side of the cord should be about80 mm longer than the other side.CD80 mmWind both ends firmly around the spool in the direction of3.the “LH” arrow (D). “LH” indicates the winding direction forbrushcutters with left hand rotation.Wind all but about 100 mm of the cords. Hold the ends4.temporarily hooked through the notches (E).E100 mmSet the spool into the housing so that the grooves and5.protrusions on the spool match up with those in the housing.Unhook the ends of the cord from their temporary position and6.feed the cords through the eyelets (F) to come out of the housing.FAlign the protrusion7. (G) on the underside of the cover with theslots (H) of the eyelets. Then push the cover firmly onto thehousing to secure it. Make sure the latches (A) fully spread in thecover.GHA
