This system automatically cuts off power to themotor to extend tool and battery life. The tool will auto-matically stop during operation if the tool or battery isplaced under one of the following conditions:Overload protectionWhen the battery is operated in a manner that causesit to draw an abnormally high current, the tool automat-ically stops without any indication. In this situation, turnthe tool off and stop the application that caused the toolto become overloaded. Then turn the tool on to restart.Overheat protectionWhen the tool or battery is overheated, the tool stopsautomatically and the lamp blinks. In this case, let thetool and battery cool before turning the tool on again.Overdischarge protectionWhen the battery capacity is not enough, the tool stopsautomatically. In this case, remove the battery from thetool and charge the battery.Protections against other causesProtection system is also designed for other causes that coulddamage the tool and allows the tool to stop automatically.Take all the following steps to clear the causes, when the toolhas been brought to a temporary halt or stop in operation.1. Turn the tool off, and then turn it on again to restart.2. Charge the battery(ies) or replace it/them withrecharged battery(ies).3. Let the tool and battery(ies) cool down.If no improvement can be found by restoring protectionsystem, then contact your local Makita Service Center.Selecting the cutting actionThis tool can be operated with an orbital or a straight line (upand down) cutting action.
