8Bit angle (Fig. 10 & Fig. 11)The bit can be secured at 12 different angles. To changethe bit angle, slide the change ring forward, then turn thechange ring to change the bit angle. At the desired angle,slide the change ring back to the original position. The bitwill be secured in place.NOTE:• The change ring cannot turn when the bit is notinstalled on the tool.OPERATIONChipping/Scaling/Demolition (Fig. 12 &Fig. 13)Always use the side grip (auxiliary handle) and firmly holdthe tool by both side grip and switch handle duringoperations. Turn the tool on and apply slight pressure onthe tool so that the tool will not bounce around,uncontrolled. Pressing very hard on the tool will notincrease the efficiency.MAINTENANCECAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before attempting to perform inspection ormaintenance.• Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol or thelike. Discoloration, deformation or cracks may result.LubricationCAUTION:• This servicing should be performed by MakitaAuthorized Service Centers only.This tool requires no hourly or daily lubrication because ithas a grease-packed lubrication system. It should belubricated every time the carbon brushes are replaced.Send the complete tool to Makita Authorized ServiceCenter for this lubrication service.Run the tool for several minutes to warm it up. Switch offand unplug the tool.Loosen the four screws and remove the handle. Note thatthe top screws are different from other screws. (Fig. 14)Disconnect the connector by pulling them. (Fig. 15)Loosen the four screws on crank cap and remove thecrank cap cover. (Fig. 16)Wipe out the old grease inside and replace with a freshgrease (30 g). Use only Makita genuine hammer grease(optional accessory). Filling with more than the specifiedamount of grease (approx. 30 g) can cause faultyhammering action or tool failure. Fill only with thespecified amount of grease. (Fig. 17)CAUTION:• Be careful not to damage the connector or lead wiresespecially when wiping out the old grease.To reassemble the tool, follow the disassemblingprocedure in reverse.CAUTION:• Do not tighten the crank cap excessively. It is made ofresin and is subject to breakage.• Be careful not to damage the connector or lead wiresespecially when installing the handle.Connect the connector firmly and then reinstall thehandle.
