Try to pull the bit out of the tool holderto make sure the retained bit before use.CAUTION:Never use B-type shank bits. They can cause damage tothe tool. (For HM1200B)Fig.5OPERATIONChipping/Scaling/DemolitionHold the tool firmly with both hands. Turn the tool on andapply slight pressure on the tool so that the tool will notbounce around, uncontrolled. Pressing very hard on thetool will not increase the efficiency.MAINTENANCECAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before attempting to perform inspectionor maintenance.Replacing carbon brushesFig.6When the resin insulating tip inside the carbon brush isexposed to contact the commutator, it will automaticallyshut off the motor. When this occurs, both carbonbrushes should be replaced. Keep the carbon brushesclean and free to slip in the holders. Both carbonbrushes should be replaced at the same time. Use onlyidentical carbon brushes.Use a hex wrench to remove the rear cover.Fig.7Use a screwdriver to remove the brush holder caps.Take out the worn carbon brushes, insert the new onesand secure the brush holder caps.Fig.8LubricationFig.9Fig.10This tool requires no hourly or daily lubrication becauseit has a grease-packed lubrication system. Lubricate thetool every time the carbon brushes are replaced.Run the tool for several minutes to warm it up. Switch offand unplug the tool. Remove the crank cap using aMakita lock nut wrench 35 (optional accessory). Rest thetool on the table with the bit end pointing upwards. Thiswill allow the old grease to collect inside the crankhousing.Wipe out the old grease inside and replace with a freshgrease (30 g). Use only Makita genuine grease (optionalaccessory). Filling with more than the specified amountof grease (approx. 30 g) can cause faulty hammeringaction or tool failure. Fill only with the specified amountof grease. Reinstall the crank cap and tighten with thelock nut wrench. Do not tighten the crank capexcessively.
