The dial is marked 1 (lowest speed) to 5 (fullspeed).Refer to the table below for the relationship between thenumber settings on the adjusting dial and the blows perminute.NOTE:• Blows at no load per minute becomes smaller thanthose on load in order to reduce vibration under noload, but this does not show trouble. Once operationstarts with a bit against concrete, blows per minuteincrease and get to the numbers as shown in the table. When temperature is low and there is less fluidity ingrease, the tool may not have this function even withthe motor rotating.CAUTION:• The speed adjusting dial can be turned only as far as 5and back to 1. Do not force it past 5 or 1, or the speedadjusting function may no longer work.Indicator lamp (Fig. 3)The green power-ON indicator lamp lights up when thetool is plugged. (Fig. 8)Bit angle (Fig. 9 & 10)The bit can be secured at 12 different angles. To changethe bit angle, slide the change ring forward, then turn thechange ring to change the bit angle. At the desired angle, slide the change ring back to the original position. The bitwill be secured in place.NOTE:• The change ring cannot turn when the bit is notinstalled on the tool.OPERATIONChipping/Scaling/Demolition (Fig. 11)Always use the side grip (auxiliary handle) and firmly holdthe tool by both side grip and switch handle duringoperations. Turn the tool on and apply slight pressure onthe tool so that the tool will not bounce around, uncontrolled. Pressing very hard on the tool will notincrease the efficiency.MAINTENANCECAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before attempting to perform inspection ormaintenance.LubricationCAUTION:• This servicing should be performed by MakitaAuthorized or Factory Service Centers only.Number on adjusting dial Blows per minute5 1,9004 1,7003 1,4502 1,2001 950
