5FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before adjusting or checking function onthe tool.Switch actionFig.1CAUTION:• Before plugging in the tool, always check to seethat the switch trigger actuates properly andreturns to the "OFF" position when released. To start the tool, simply pull the switch trigger. Toolspeed is increased by increasing pressure on the switchtrigger. Release the switch trigger to stop. Forcontinuous operation, pull the switch trigger and thenpush in the lock button. To stop the tool from the lockedposition, pull the switch trigger fully, then release it.Reversing switch actionFig.2CAUTION:• Always check the direction of rotation beforeoperation.• Use the reversing switch only after the tool comesto a complete stop. Changing the direction ofrotation before the tool stops may damage the tool.• If the switch trigger can not be depressed, check tosee that the reversing switch is fully set toposition (A side) or (B side). This tool has a reversing switch to change the directionof rotation. Move the reversing switch lever tothe position (A side) for clockwise rotation orthe position (B side) for counterclockwise rotation.Selecting the action modeFig.3This tool employs an action mode changing knob. Selectone of the two modes suitable for your work needs byusing this knob. For rotation only, turn the knob so that the arrow on theknob points toward the symbol on the tool body. For rotation with hammering, turn the knob so that thearrow on the knob points toward the symbol on the toolbody.CAUTION:• Always set the knob fully to your desired modesymbol. If you operate the tool with the knobpositioned halfway between the mode symbols, thetool may be damaged.• Use the knob after the tool comes to a completestop.Torque limiterThe torque limiter will actuate when a certain torquelevel is reached. The motor will disengage from theoutput shaft. When this happens, the bit will stop turning.CAUTION:• As soon as the torque limiter actuates, switch offthe tool immediately. This will help preventpremature wear of the tool.• Bits such as hole saw, which tend to pintch orcatch easily in the hole, are not appropriate for thistool. This is because they will cause the torquelimiter to actuate too frequently.ASSEMBLYCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before carrying out any work on thetool.Side grip (auxiliary handle)Fig.4CAUTION:• Always use the side grip to ensure operatingsafety.Install the side grip so that the teeth on the grip fit inbetween the protrusions on the tool barrel. Then tightenthe grip by turning clockwise at the desired position. Itmay be swung 360° so as to be secured at any position.Bit greaseCoat the bit shank head beforehand with a small amountof bit grease (about 0.5 - 1 g).This chuck lubrication assures smooth action and longerservice life.Installing or removing the bitFig.5Clean the bit shank and apply bit grease before installingthe bit.Fig.6Insert the bit into the tool. Turn the bit and push it in untilit engages. After installing, always make sure that the bit is securelyheld in place by trying to pull it out.To remove the bit, pull the chuck cover down all the wayand pull the bit out.Fig.7Depth gaugeFig.8The depth gauge is convenient for drilling holes ofuniform depth. Loosen the side grip and insert the depthgauge into the hole in the side grip. Adjust the depthgauge to the desired depth and tighten the side grip.NOTE:• The depth gauge cannot be used at the positionwhere the depth gauge strikes against the gearhousing.
