8FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and thebattery cartridge is removed before adjusting orchecking function on the tool.Installing or removing battery cartridge12011326CAUTION:• Always switch off the tool before installing orremoving of the battery cartridge.• Hold the tool and the battery cartridge firmlywhen installing or removing battery cartridge.Failure to hold the tool and the battery cartridgefirmly may cause them to slip off your hands andresult in damage to the tool and battery cartridgeand a personal injury.To remove the battery cartridge, withdraw it from thetool while pressing the buttons on both sides of thecartridge.To install the battery cartridge, hold it so that the batterycartridge front shape fits to that of the batteryinstallment opening and slip it into place. Insert it all theway until it locks in place with a little click.CAUTION:• Always insert the battery cartridge all the way untilit locks in place. If not, it may accidentally fall outof the tool, causing injury to you or someonearound you.• Do not install the battery cartridge forcibly. If thecartridge does not slide in easily, it is not beinginserted correctly.Battery protection systemThe tool is equipped with a battery protection system.This system automatically cuts off power to the motor toextend battery life.The tool will automatically stop during operation if thetool and/or battery are placed under one of the followingconditions:• Overloaded:The tool is operated in a manner that causesit to draw an abnormally high current.In this situation, release the switch trigger onthe tool and stop the application that causedthe tool to become overloaded. Then pull theswitch trigger again to restart.• Low battery voltage:The remaining battery capacity is too lowand the tool will not operate. If you pull theswitch trigger, the motor runs again but stopssoon. In this situation, remove and rechargethe battery.Adjusting depth of cut12011327CAUTION:• After adjusting the depth of cut, always tighten theclamping screw securely.Loosen the clamping screw on the depth guide andmove the base up or down. At the desired depth of cut,secure the base by tightening the clamping screw.For cleaner, safer cuts, set cut depth so that no morethan one blade tooth projects below workpiece. Usingproper cut depth helps to reduce potential for dangerousKICKBACKS which can cause personal injury.Bevel cutting12011374Loosen the clamping screw on the bevel scale plate onthe front of the base.
