5the blade comes to a complete stop. Neverattempt to remove the saw from the work orpull the saw backward while the blade is inmotion or kickback may occur. Investigate andtake corrective actions to eliminate the cause ofblade binding.11. When restarting a saw in the workpiece, centre the saw blade in the kerf and checkthat saw teeth are not engaged into thematerial. If saw blade is binding, it may walk upor kickback from the workpiece as the saw isrestarted.12. Support large panels to minimise the risk ofblade pinching and kickback. Large panelstend to sag under their own weight. Supportsmust be placed under the panel on both sides, near the line of cut and near the edge of thepanel. To avoid kickback, do supportboard or panel near the cut.011398Do not support board orpanel away from the cut.01139913. Do not use dull or damaged blades.Unsharpened or improperly set blades producenarrow kerf causing excessive friction, bladebinding and kickback.14. Blade depth and bevel adjusting lockinglevers must be tight and secure beforemaking cut. If blade adjustment shifts whilecutting, it may cause binding and kickback.15. Use extra caution when sawing into existingwalls or other blind areas. The protruding blademay cut objects that can cause kickback.16. ALWAYS hold the tool firmly with both hands.NEVER place your hand or fingers behind thesaw. If kickback occurs, the saw could easilyjump backwards over your hand, leading toserious personal injury.01140017. Never force the saw. Push the saw forward ata speed so that the blade cuts withoutslowing. Forcing the saw can cause uneven cuts, loss of accuracy, and possible kickback.Lower guard function18. Check lower guard for proper closing beforeeach use. Do not operate the saw if lowerguard does not move freely and closeinstantly. Never clamp or tie the lower guardinto the open position. If saw is accidentallydropped, lower guard may be bent. Raise thelower guard with the retracting handle and makesure it moves freely and does not touch the bladeor any other part, in all angles and depths of cut.19. Check the operation of the lower guard spring. If the guard and the spring are not operatingproperly, they must be serviced before use.Lower guard may operate sluggishly due todamaged parts, gummy deposits, or a build-up ofdebris.20. Lower guard may be retracted manually onlyfor special cuts such as "plunge cuts" and"compound cuts". Raise lower guard byretracting handle and as soon as blade entersthe material, the lower guard must be released. For all other sawing, the lower guard shouldoperate automatically.21. Always observe that the lower guard iscovering the blade before placing saw downon bench or floor. An unprotected, coastingblade will cause the saw to walk backwards, cutting whatever is in its path. Be aware of thetime it takes for the blade to stop after switch isreleased.22. To check lower guard, open lower guard byhand, then release and watch guard closure. Also check to see that retracting handle doesnot touch tool housing. Leaving blade exposedis VERY DANGEROUS and can lead to seriouspersonal injury.
