5FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before adjusting or checking function onthe tool.Selecting the cutting action1011956This tool can be operated with an orbital or a straight line(up and down) cutting action. The orbital cutting actionthrusts the blade forward on the cutting stroke andgreatly increases cutting speed.To change the cutting action, just turn the cutting actionchanging lever to the desired cutting action position.Refer to the table to select the appropriate cutting action.Position Cutting action ApplicationsFor cutting mild steel,stainless steel and plastics.For clean cuts in woodand plywood.Small orbitcutting actionFor cutting mild steel,aluminum and hard wood.For cutting wood andplywood.For fast cutting in aluminumand mild steel.Large orbitcutting actionFor fast cutting in woodand plywood.0 Straight linecutting actionMedium orbitcutting action006582Switch action1 2011957CAUTION:• Before plugging in the tool, always check to seethat the switch trigger actuates properly and returnsto the "OFF" position when released.• Switch can be locked in "ON" position for ease ofoperator comfort during extended use. Applycaution when locking tool in "ON" position andmaintain firm grasp on tool.To start the tool, simply pull the switch trigger. Releasethe switch trigger to stop.For continuous operation, pull the switch trigger and thenpush in the lock button.To stop the tool from the locked position, pull the switchtrigger fully, then release it.Speed adjusting dial1011958The tool speed can be infinitely adjusted by turning thespeed adjusting dial. Higher speed is obtained when thespeed adjusting dial is turned in the direction of number5; lower speed is obtained when it is turned in thedirection of number 1.Refer to the table to select the proper speed for theworkpiece to be cut. However, the appropriate speedmay differ with the type or thickness of the workpiece.
