7GENERAL SAFETY RULES GEA001-3WARNING! Read all instructions. Failure to follow allinstructions listed below may result in electric shock, fireand/or serious injury. The term “power tool” in all of thewarnings listed below refers to your mains-operated(corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) powertool.SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.Work area safety1. Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered anddark areas invite accidents.2. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres,such as in the presence of flammable liquids,gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which mayignite the dust or fumes.3. Keep children and bystanders away whileoperating a power tool. Distractions can cause youto lose control.Electrical Safety4. Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Nevermodify the plug in any way. Do not use anyadapter plugs with earthed (grounded) powertools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets willreduce risk of electric shock.5. Avoid body contact with earthed or groundedsurfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges andrefrigerators. There is an increased risk of electricshock if your body is earthed or grounded.6. Do not expose power tools to rain or wetconditions. Water entering a power tool will increasethe risk of electric shock.7. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord forcarrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool.Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges ormoving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increasethe risk of electric shock.8. When operating a power tool outdoors, use anextension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of acord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk ofelectric shock.Personal Safety9. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and usecommon sense when operating a power tool. Donot use a power tool while you are tired or underthe influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. Amoment of inattention while operating power toolsmay result in serious personal injury.10. Use safety equipment. Always wear eyeprotection. Safety equipment such as dust mask,non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protectionused for appropriate conditions will reduce personalinjuries.11. Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is inthe off-position before plugging in. Carrying powertools with your finger on the switch or plugging inpower tools that have the switch on invites accidents.12. Remove any adjusting key or wrench beforeturning the power tool on. A wrench or a key leftattached to a rotating part of the power tool may resultin personal injury.13. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing andbalance at all times. This enables better control ofthe power tool in unexpected situations.14. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing orjewellery. Keep your hair, clothing, and glovesaway from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery orlong hair can be caught in moving parts.15. If devices are provided for the connection of dustextraction and collection facilities, ensure theseare connected and properly used. Use of thesedevices can reduce dust-related hazards.Power tool use and care16. Do not force the power tool. Use the correct powertool for your application. The correct power tool willdo the job better and safer at the rate for which it wasdesigned.17. Do not use the power tool if the switch does notturn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot becontrolled with the switch is dangerous and must berepaired.18. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/orthe battery pack from the power tool beforemaking any adjustments, changing accessories,or storing power tools. Such preventive safetymeasures reduce the risk of starting the power toolaccidentally.19. Store idle power tools out of the reach of childrenand do not allow persons unfamiliar with thepower tool or these instructions to operate thepower tool. Power tools are dangerous in the handsof untrained users.20. Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment orbinding of moving parts, breakage of parts andany other condition that may affect the powertools operation. If damaged, have the power toolrepaired before use. Many accidents are caused bypoorly maintained power tools.21. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properlymaintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges areless likely to bind and are easier to control.22. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc.in accordance with these instructions and in themanner intended for the particular type of powertool, taking into account the working conditionsand the work to be performed. Use of the power toolfor operations different from those intended couldresult in a hazardous situation.SERVICE23. Have your power tool serviced by a qualifiedrepair person using only identical replacementparts. This will ensure that the safety of the power toolis maintained.24. Follow instruction for lubricating and changingaccessories.25. Keep handles dry, clean and free from oil andgrease.
