11 ENGLISHPower tool use and care1. Do not force the power tool. Use the correctpower tool for your application. The correctpower tool will do the job better and safer at therate for which it was designed.2. Do not use the power tool if the switch doesnot turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannotbe controlled with the switch is dangerous andmust be repaired.3. Disconnect the plug from the power sourceand/or remove the battery pack, if detachable,from the power tool before making any adjust-ments, changing accessories, or storing powertools. Such preventive safety measures reducethe risk of starting the power tool accidentally.4. Store idle power tools out of the reach of chil-dren and do not allow persons unfamiliar withthe power tool or these instructions to operatethe power tool. Power tools are dangerous in thehands of untrained users.5. Maintain power tools and accessories. Checkfor misalignment or binding of moving parts,breakage of parts and any other condition thatmay affect the power tool’s operation. If dam-aged, have the power tool repaired before use.Many accidents are caused by poorly maintainedpower tools.6. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properlymaintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edgesare less likely to bind and are easier to control.7. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bitsetc. in accordance with these instructions, tak-ing into account the working conditions andthe work to be performed. Use of the power toolfor operations different from those intended couldresult in a hazardous situation.8. Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry,clean and free from oil and grease. Slipperyhandles and grasping surfaces do not allow forsafe handling and control of the tool in unexpectedsituations.9. When using the tool, do not wear cloth workgloves which may be entangled. The entangle-ment of cloth work gloves in the moving parts mayresult in personal injury.Service1. Have your power tool serviced by a qualifiedrepair person using only identical replacementparts. This will ensure that the safety of the powertool is maintained.2. Follow instruction for lubricating and chang-ing accessories.Safety instructions for table sawsGuarding related warnings1. Keep guards in place. Guards must be in work-ing order and be properly mounted. A guardthat is loose, damaged, or is not functioning cor-rectly must be repaired or replaced.2. Make sure the saw blade is not contacting theguard, riving knife or the workpiece before theswitch is turned on. Inadvertent contact of theseitems with the saw blade could cause a hazardouscondition.3. Adjust the riving knife as described in thisinstruction manual. Incorrect spacing, position-ing and alignment can make the riving knife inef-fective in reducing the likelihood of kickback.4. For the riving knife and anti-kickback pawls towork, they must be engaged in the workpiece.The riving knife and anti-kickback pawls are ineffec-tive when cutting workpieces that are too short tobe engaged with the riving knife and anti-kickbackpawls. Under these conditions a kickback cannot beprevented by the riving knife and antikickback pawls.5. Use the appropriate saw blade for the rivingknife. For the riving knife to function properly, thesaw blade diameter must match the appropriateriving knife and the body of the saw blade must bethinner than the thickness of the riving knife andthe cutting width of the saw blade must be widerthan the thickness of the riving knife.Cutting procedures warnings1. DANGER: Never place your fingers orhands in the vicinity or in line with the sawblade. A moment of inattention or a slip coulddirect your hand towards the saw blade and resultin serious personal injury.2. Feed the workpiece into the saw blade onlyagainst the direction of rotation. Feeding theworkpiece in the same direction that the saw blade isrotating above the table may result in the workpiece,and your hand, being pulled into the saw blade.3. Never use the mitre gauge to feed the workpiecewhen ripping and do not use the rip fence as alength stop when cross cutting with the mitregauge. Guiding the workpiece with the rip fenceand the mitre gauge at the same time increases thelikelihood of saw blade binding and kickback.4. When ripping, always apply the workpiece feed-ing force between the fence and the saw blade.Use a push stick when the distance between thefence and the saw blade is less than 150 mm,and use a push block when this distance is lessthan 50 mm. “Work helping” devices will keep yourhand at a safe distance from the saw blade.5. Use only the push stick provided by the manu-facturer or constructed in accordance with theinstructions. This push stick provides sufficientdistance of the hand from the saw blade.6. Never use a damaged or cut push stick. Adamaged push stick may break causing your handto slip into the saw blade.7. Do not perform any operation “freehand”.Always use either the rip fence or the mitregauge to position and guide the workpiece.“Freehand” means using your hands to support orguide the workpiece, in lieu of a rip fence or mitregauge. Freehand sawing leads to misalignment,binding and kickback.8. Never reach around or over a rotating sawblade. Reaching for a workpiece may lead toaccidental contact with the moving saw blade.9. Provide auxiliary workpiece support to the rearand/or sides of the saw table for long and/orwide workpieces to keep them level. A long and/or wide workpiece has a tendency to pivot on thetable’s edge, causing loss of control, saw bladebinding and kickback.
