5FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and thebattery cartridge is removed before adjusting orchecking function on the tool.Installing or removing battery cartridge123014065CAUTION:• Always switch off the tool before installing orremoving of the battery cartridge.• Hold the tool and the battery cartridge firmlywhen installing or removing battery cartridge.Failure to hold the tool and the battery cartridgefirmly may cause them to slip off your hands andresult in damage to the tool and battery cartridgeand a personal injury.To remove the battery cartridge, slide it from the toolwhile sliding the button on the front of the cartridge.To install the battery cartridge, align the tongue on thebattery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slipit into place. Insert it all the way until it locks in placewith a little click. If you can see the red indicator on theupper side of the button, it is not locked completely.CAUTION:• Always install the battery cartridge fully until thered indicator cannot be seen. If not, it mayaccidentally fall out of the tool, causing injury toyou or someone around you.• Do not install the battery cartridge forcibly. If thecartridge does not slide in easily, it is not beinginserted correctly.Switch action1009208CAUTION:• Before inserting the battery cartridge into the tool,always check to see that the switch triggeractuates properly and returns to the "OFF"position when released.To start the tool, simply pull the switch trigger. Toolspeed is increased by increasing pressure on the switchtrigger. Release the switch trigger to stop.NOTE:• Continuing to pull the trigger switch for more than130 seconds will stop the tool.Electric brakeThis tool is equipped with an electric brake. If the toolconsistently fails to quickly stop after switch triggerrelease, have tool serviced at a Makita service center.Lighting up the front lampCAUTION:• Do not look in the light or see the source of light directly.1009209S H1014070Every time the light button on the switch panel ispressed, the light status is alternatively changed fromthe ON to the OFF and from the OFF to the ON.With the light button in the ON status, pull the switchtrigger to turn on the light. To turn off, release it and thelight goes out approximately 10 seconds after releasing.With the light button in the OFF status, even if thetrigger is pulled, the lamp will not light on.NOTE:• To make sure the status of light, pull the trigger.
