11Grinding and sanding operationA B015097ALWAYS hold the tool firmly with one hand on housingand the other on the side handle. Turn the tool on andthen apply the wheel or disc to the workpiece. In general, keep the edge of the wheel or disc at anangle of about 15 degrees to the workpiece surface.During the break-in period with a new wheel, do notwork the grinder in the B direction or it will cut into theworkpiece. Once the edge of the wheel has beenrounded off by use, the wheel may be worked in both Aand B direction.Operation with abrasive cut-off /diamond wheel (optional accessory)1234010855Remove the battery cartridge from the tool and place itupside down allowing easy access to spindle. Mount theinner flange and abrasive cut-off / diamond wheel ontothe spindle. Tighten the lock nut securely with suppliedwrench. The direction for mounting the lock nut and theinner flange varies by wheel thickness.Refer to the table below.22.23 mm (7/8")Abrasive cut-off wheel Diamond wheelThickness: Less than4 mm (5/32")Thickness: 4 mm (5/32")or moreThickness: Less than4 mm (5/32")Thickness: 4 mm (5/32")or more22.23 mm (7/8") 22.23 mm (7/8") 22.23 mm (7/8")115 mm (4-1/2") / 125 mm (5")1. 2. 3.1231434.Lock nut Abrasive cut-off wheel Inner flange Diamond wheel013349WARNING:When using an abrasive cut-off / diamond wheel,be sure to use only the special wheel guarddesigned for use with cut-off wheels.NEVER use cut-off wheel for side grinding.Do not "jam" the wheel or apply excessivepressure. Do not attempt to make an excessivedepth of cut. Overstressing the wheel increasesthe loading and susceptibility to twisting or bindingof the wheel in the cut and the possibility ofkickback, wheel breakage and overheating of themotor may occur.Do not start the cutting operation in the workpiece. Letthe wheel reach full speed and carefully enter into thecut moving the tool forward over the workpiecesurface. The wheel may bind, walk up or kickback ifthe power tool is started in the workpiece.During cutting operations, never change the angleof the wheel. Placing side pressure on the cut-offwheel (as in grinding) will cause the wheel to crackand break, causing serious personal injury.A diamond wheel shall be operated perpendicularto the material being cut.1.
