5 ENGLISH5. To check lower guard, open lower guard byhand, then release and watch guard closure.Also check to see that retracting handle doesnot touch tool housing. Leaving blade exposedis VERY DANGEROUS and can lead to seriouspersonal injury.Additional safety warnings1. Intended useThis tool is intended to cut mild steel only.2. Do not stop the blades by lateral pressure onthe saw blade.3. DANGER:Do not attempt to remove cut material whenblade is moving.CAUTION: Blades coast after turn off.4. Place the wider portion of the saw base onthat part of the workpiece which is solidlysupported, not on the section that will fall offwhen the cut is made. If the workpiece is shortor small, clamp it down. DO NOT TRY TO HOLDSHORT PIECES BY HAND!5. Never attempt to make a cut with the tool heldupside down in a vise. This is extremely dan-gerous and can lead to serious accidents.6. Wear safety goggles and hearing protectionduring operation.7. Do not use any abrasive wheels.8. Only use the saw blade with the diameter thatis marked on the tool or specified in the man-ual. Use of an incorrectly sized blade may affectthe proper guarding of the blade or guard opera-tion which could result in serious personal injury.9. Always use the saw blade intended for cuttingthe material that you are going to cut.10. Do not short the battery cartridge:(1) Do not touch the terminals with any con-ductive material.(2) Avoid storing battery cartridge in a con-tainer with other metal objects such asnails, coins, etc.(3) Do not expose battery cartridge to wateror rain.A battery short can cause a large currentflow, overheating, possible burns and even abreakdown.6. Do not store the tool and battery cartridge inlocations where the temperature may reach orexceed 50 °C (122 °F).7. Do not incinerate the battery cartridge even ifit is severely damaged or is completely wornout. The battery cartridge can explode in a fire.8. Be careful not to drop or strike battery.9. Do not use a damaged battery.10. The contained lithium-ion batteries are subjectto the Dangerous Goods Legislation require-ments.For commercial transports e.g. by third parties,forwarding agents, special requirement on pack-aging and labeling must be observed.For preparation of the item being shipped, consult-ing an expert for hazardous material is required.Please also observe possibly more detailednational regulations.Tape or mask off open contacts and pack up thebattery in such a manner that it cannot movearound in the packaging.11. Follow your local regulations relating to dis-posal of battery.12. Use the batteries only with the productsspecified by Makita.
