Section 3 Ice Machine Operation3-3Operational ChecksGENERALYour Manitowoc ice machine was factory-operatedand adjusted before shipment. Normally, a newlyinstalled ice machine does not require anyadjustment. To ensure proper operation, always follow theseOperational Checks when starting the ice machine:• for the first time• after a prolonged out of service period• after cleaning and sanitizingRoutine adjustments and maintenance proceduresoutlined in this manual are not covered by thewarranty.WATER LEVEL CHECK1. Check the water level while the ice machine is inthe freeze mode and the water pump is running. The correct water level is 1/8”-1/2” (3-12.5 mm)above the water pump impeller housing.Water Level Check2. The float valve is factory-set for the proper waterlevel. If adjustments are necessary:A. Loosen the two screws on the float valvebracket.B. Raise or lower the float valve assembly asnecessary, then tighten the screws.C. If further adjustment is required, carefullybend the float arm to achieve the correctwater level.ICE THICKNESS CHECKAfter a harvest cycle, inspect the ice cubes in the icestorage bin. The ice thickness probe is factory-set tomaintain an ice bridge of 1/8 inch (3.2mm). If anadjustment is needed, follow the steps below.1. Turn the ice thickness probe adjustment screwclockwise for a thicker ice bridge, orcounterclockwise for a thinner ice bridge.IMPORTANTIt is normal for cubes to have a slight dimple. Thisis a normal characteristic associated withManitowoc’s unique shape.Ice Thickness Adjustment2. Make sure the ice thickness probe wire andbracket do not restrict movement of the probe.SV12081/8” ICETHICKNESSADJUSTINGSCREWWATER LEVEL1/8”-1/2” ABOVEHOUSINGSV1331WATER PUMPIMPELLERHOUSINGWATERPUMPPUMPOUTLET
