NAP 250 Installation and OperationThe NAP 250 should be installed on a dedicated equipment stand intended for the purpose and should be in its final locationbefore connecting cables or switching on. Switch on the source and preamplifier components, with the volume turned down,before switching on the NAP 250. The NAP 250 power button is located on the front panel.The NAP 250 is heavy and care should be taken when lifting or moving it. Make sure that the surface it is to be placed on cansupport the full weight.8.1 General Connections NotesThe negative input and output connections are all common.The mains earth should always be connected regardless ofwhat other equipment is used. This only grounds the caseand the electrostatic screen within the transformer, and isnot connected to the signal negative. In order to avoid humloops, the signal negative of the whole system should beconnected to the mains earth (ground) in one place.8.2 Protection NotesIf the amplifier’s external case reaches 70°C due toprolonged running at high power, the mains supply will beinterrupted and the illuminated logo will switch off untilthe amplifier has cooled down. This may take up to thirtyminutes.OPERATION OF THE AMPLIFIER’S THERMAL PROTECTIONSUGGESTS PROLONGED USE AT TOO HIGH A VOLUMELEVEL. YOUR LOUDSPEAKERS MAY BE AT RISK IF THIS ISTHE CASE. THE VOLUME SHOULD BE REDUCED.8.3 Loudspeaker Cable and ConnectorsOnly Naim Audio speaker cable should be used to connecta loudspeaker to the output of the NAP 250.
