When Small+Sub is specified, a 100Hz high-passfilter is applied to the NaimUniti speaker output signal. The speaker Max. Volume and Balance parameters specifymaximum allowed volume, and the channel balancerespectively.4.5 The Headphones MenuThe Headphones setup menuenables the Max. Volumeparameter to be specified:Parameter OptionsMax. Volume: 0 to 100 (adjustusing handset 6or 5 keys)4.6 The Network Settings MenuThe Network Settings menuenables NaimUniti networkparameters to be customisedto suit the router and network. The options are tabulated anddescribed in the following sections:Parameter OptionsName: User definable (text entry)Default: Uniti-xxxxWireless: Not Used / Wireless Network NamesStatus: Connected / No Signal / Login Failure /Busy / Etc.DHCP: Yes / NoThe Name parameter enables the NaimUniti’s defaultnetwork name to be changed. The Wireless parameter enables a wireless network to bechosen and joined. See Section 4.6.1 below for detailedwireless set up notes.Network Status displays the current network connectionstatus. The DHCP parameter enables the NaimUniti networksettings to be modified. In most cases, specifying Yes andleaving NaimUniti set to DHCP, will be the appropriateoption. See Section 4.6.2 below for notes on non-DHCPnetwork connection.Note: Devices installed on a network have an IP addressthrough which they are identified by all the other itemson the network. DHCP is a set of rules that enable theautomatic allocation of addresses as items are connected(or switched on while connected) to the network.NaimUniti is set up by default to use DHCP.Note: If NaimUniti is connected to the network bothwirelessly and via Ethernet (wired), the Ethernet connectionwill take priority.4.6.1 Wireless NetworkConnection Set UpIf the Wireless parameter isselected in the Network Settingsmenu the Select Network menuwill display a list of the availablenetworks. An option not to use a wireless connection isalso provided. Use the handset up (5) or down (6) keysto scroll through the list and the ok/list key to select anetwork.Note: NaimUniti is compatible with most commonly usedWi-Fi standards. Routers that support 802.11b and 802.11gwill work, however those with 802.11g compatibility arerecommended for best results.Note: As with any wireless network hardware, NaimUniticonnection reliability will be affected by both networkrouter performance and Wi-Fi signal quality. To minimise thepossibility of poor connection reliability, NaimUniti should beconnected to network audio sources by no more than onewireless “leg”. Other “legs” necessary between NaimUnitiand the network audio sources should be wired.Note: NaimUniti cannot connect to a “hidden” wirelessnetwork. If the selected network is secureand requires a passphrase oraccess key to join, NaimUniti willdisplay an alert message. Pressingthe handset ok/list key will thenopen a text entry screen for entryof the passphrase or access key.Use the handset numeric/textkeys to enter the passphrase oraccess key taking care to ensurethat the letter case is correct.Press the handset ok/list keywhen text entry is complete. Inthe illustration the passphrase is“flatfish”.If the network is successfullyjoined NaimUniti will display aconfirmation screen. If an incorrect passphrase oraccess key is entered NaimUnitiwill display an alert message.Note: As a security measure,a router may also require theNaimUniti’s MAC address to be entered before allowingit to join the wireless network. This type of security featureis known as ‘MAC address filtering’. The NaimUniti MACaddress is shown in the ‘Factory settings > System Status’page.Network Settings 1/44Name: Uniti-0131Wireless: Not UsedStatus: Not ConnectedDHCP YesHeadphones 1/14Max.
