Before turning on the amplifier, check all connectionsand turn down the level controls. A momentary muting is normalwhen turning the amplifier on or off.(Caution: Always turn on your power amplifier last, after all yourother connected equipment, and always turn off your poweramplifier before your other connected equipment.)2. POWER LED INDICATORThis LED illuminates when the power is turned “ON”.3. SUBWOOFER LEVEL CONTROLThis controls the level of the signal for the Subwoofer channel. The actual voltage gain is shown in dB. Turn the level down(counterclockwise) if the Clipping LEDs (6) illuminate steadily(indicating too strong an output signal).4. CHANNEL 1 & 2 LEVEL CONTROLSThese control the level of channel 1 & 2.5. SIGNAL LED INDICATORSThese LEDs illuminate to confirm the presence of an inputsignal greater than 110mV on that channel of the amplifier.FRONT PANEL6. CLIP (PEAK) LED INDICATORSThese LEDs illuminate if the corresponding channel’s output iswithin 3dB of clipping. Occasional blinking of the LEDs isacceptable, but if they remain on more than intermittently youshould turn down either the power amplifier’s level controls orreduce the output level of the preceding component to avoidaudible distortion.[Caution: Prolonged use at levels in excess of clipping cancause damage to your speakers and even the internal amplifier.Carefully monitor the clipping LEDs to avoid prolonged clipping.]7. PROTECT LED INDICATORSThese LEDs illuminate if the power amplifier’s safety circuit hasbeen triggered to shut off the outputs. This can occur if theoutput connection has been shorted, the load impedance is toolow, there is DC voltage at the outputs, or if the power ampoverheats due to excessive clipping. When either of these LEDsis lit up, turn OFF the power and check the output connectionsto verify that they are correct. If the output connections areshorted, or a speaker is blown, correct the problem (or unplugthe speaker) and try turning the amp back on. It’s also prudentto carefully feel if the amplifier is very hot due to excessiveclipping. If so, allow the amp to cool down before turning thepower back on.(1)(2) (7)(3) (6)(5)(4)(6) (5)(7)
