10www.napoleongrills.comTroubleshootingProblem Possible Causes SolutionLow heat / Low flame whenvalve turned to high. For propane - improper lighting procedure. For natural gas - undersized supply line.Ensure lighting procedure is followedcarefully. The valve must be in the offposition when the tank valve is turned on.Turn tank on slowly to allow pressure toequalize. See lighting instructions.Pipe must be sized according toinstallation code.Burners burn with yellowflame, accompanied by thesmell of gas.Possible spider web or other debris. Thoroughly clean burner venturi. Seegeneral maintenance instructions.Burner will not light with theigniter, but will light with amatch.Dead battery / or installed incorrectly.Loose electrode wire or switch terminal wires.Improper gap at electrode tip.Replace with heavy duty battery.Check that electrode wire is firmly pushedonto the terminal on the back of theigniter. Check that the lead wires fromthe module to the ignition switch (ifequipped) are firmly pushed onto theirrespective terminals. The gap can be adjusted by bending thetip in or out. Until a spark is achieved.Humming regulator. Normal occurrence on hot days. This is not a defect. It is caused byinternal vibrations in the regulator anddoes not affect the performance or safetyof the gas heater. Humming regulatorswill not be replaced.Burner output on “high”setting is too low. (Rumblingnoise and fluttering blueflame at burner surface.)Lack of gas.Supply hose is pinched.Dirty or clogged orifice.Spider webs or other matter in venturi tube.Propane regulator in “low flow” state.Check gas level in propane cylinder.Reposition supply hose as necessary.Clean burner orifice.Clean out venturi tube.Ensure lighting procedure is followedcarefully. All valves must be in the offposition when the tank valve is turned on.Turn tank on slowly to allow pressure toequalize. See lighting instructions.Pilot will not light.(if equipped)Lack of gas.Obstruction in pilot orifice.Dirty pilot electrode. After turning pilot knob to high, waitapproximately 20-30 seconds for air topurge the gas supply line while pressingigniter.Clean pilot orifice.Clean pilot electrode.
