It also modifies the C:\CONFIG.SYS file to includethe following line:device = \gpib-pc\gpib.comINSTALL then runs the GPIB-PCII/IIA hardware diagnostic program,IBDIAG. IBDIAG confirms that the hardware is functioning properly,and verifies that the software configuration settings are set correctly.If IBDIAG returns an error message, check the GPIB-PCII/IIA toensure that it is not connected to a GPIB cable. IBDIAG may notfunction properly if a cable is connected to the GPIB-PCII/IIA.If IBDIAG still returns an error message, you may need to check thehardware configuration switch and jumper settings. Refer to Verifyingthe Hardware Configuration Settings in Appendix C, Hardware andSoftware Configuration, for information on checking and changing theGPIB-PCII/IIA hardware configuration settings.3. Restart your computer.Step 2. Test the Software InstallationThe file IBTEST.EXE on your NI-488.2 distribution diskette is a programthat tests the installation of the software. Run IBTEST from theGPIB-PCII/IIA directory created by INSTALL by entering the followingcommands:cd \gpib-pcibtestIf IBTEST returns an error message, check the following:• If you changed any of the hardware configuration settings on theGPIB-PCII/IIA interface board, check the current softwareconfigurations of the GPIB-PCII/IIA in IBCONF to make sure that theymatch the hardware settings. If you make changes in IBCONF, be sureto save them. Refer to Step 3. Configure the Software in Appendix C,Hardware and Software Configuration, for information on changingthe software configuration.
