Chapter 1 IntroductionNI 7831R User Manual 1-8 ni.comRefer to Appendix B, Connecting I/O Signals, for more information aboutusing these cables and accessories to connect I/O signals to the NI 7831R.Refer to ni.com/catalog for the most current cabling options.Custom CablingNI offers a variety of cables for connecting signals to the NI 7831R. If youneed to develop a custom cable, a nonterminated shielded cable is availablefrom NI. The SHC68-NT-S connects to the NI 7831R VHDCI connectorson one end of the cable. The other end of the cable is not terminated. Thiscable ships with a wire list identifying the wires that correspond to eachNI 7831R pin. Using this cable, you can quickly connect the NI 7831Rsignals that you need to the connector of your choice. Refer to Appendix B,Connecting I/O Signals, for the NI 7831R connector pinouts.NSC68-262650 Non-shielded cable connectsfrom 68-pin VHDCI maleconnector to two 26-pinfemale headers plus one50-pin female header. Thepinout of these headersallows for direct connectionto 5B backplanes for analogsignal conditioning and SSRbackplanes for digital signalconditioning.MIO only 26-pin headers can connectto the following 5Bbackplanes for analog signalconditioning:• 5B08 (8-channel)• 5B01 (16-channel)50-pin header can connect tothe following SSRbackplanes for digital signalconditioning:• 8-channel backplane• 16-channel backplane• 32-channel backplaneNSC68-5050 Non-shielded cable connectsfrom 68-pin VHDCI maleconnector to two 50-pinfemale headers. The pinoutof these headers allows fordirect connection to SSRbackplanes for digital signalconditioning.DIO only 50-pin headers can connectto the following SSRbackplanes for digital signalconditioning:• 8-channel backplane• 16-channel backplane• 32-channel backplaneTable 1-2.
