However, othersections of this manual may indicate that modifications are necessaryand may lead to unpredictable behavior.• APIC Routing—This item is valid only for Windows XP and 2000and other modern operating systems. Select Enabled to initialize theIOAPIC and local APIC in uniprocessor mode. Select Disabled to usethe legacy PIC for interrupt routing. The default setting is Enabled.• PIRQx Routing—This setting selects the routing option for PXI/PCIdevices connected to PIRQx. This settings affects OSes that do not useAPIC routing. The default setting for all PIRQx options is IRQ10.• Per-Slot Device Settings—This setting brings up the Per-Slot DeviceSettings submenu. Refer to the Per-Slot Device Settings Submenusection.Per-Slot Device Settings SubmenuUse this menu to configure options that can be modified for individual PCIdevices in a PXI chassis.Note Scanning for Option ROMs on devices behind a PCI bridge cannot be disabled.PCI Device x Option ROM Scan—This setting selects whether PCIdevice x will be scanned for an option ROM. Setting this option to Enabledallows the BIOS to scan for a PCI option ROM on this PCI device. Settingto Disabled prevents the BIOS from detecting option ROMs on this device.Setting to Disabled does not completely disable the PCI device, just theoption ROM scan. The default is Enabled.Security MenuUse this menu to enable BIOS security options.• Set User Password—This setting allows you to specify a passwordthat must be entered to boot the system. To activate this feature, youmust first specify a Supervisor password and enable the Password onboot feature. By default, no password is specified.• Set Supervisor Password—This setting allows you to specify apassword that must be entered to access the BIOS setup options. Bydefault, no password is specified.
