Advanced tuninginformation is available in the Solaris Tunable Parameters Reference Manual(806-4015) which can be obtained from http://docs.sun.com/ab2/coll.707.1/File DescriptorsThe system-wide maximum file descriptor table size setting will limit the numberof concurrent connections that can be established to Directory Server. Thegoverning parameter, rlim_fd_max, is set in the /etc/system file. By default if thisparameter is not present the maximum is 1024. It can be raised to 4096 by adding to/etc/system a lineset rlim_fd_max=4096and rebooting the system. This parameter should not be raised above 4096 withoutfirst consulting your Sun Solaris support representative as it may affect the stabilityof the system.TCP TuningBy default, the TCP/IP implementation in a Solaris kernel is not correctly tuned forInternet or Intranet services. The following /dev/tcp tuning parameters should beinspected, and if necessary changed to fit the network topology of the installationenvironment.111363-01: SunOS 5.8: /usr/sbin/installf patch111548-01: SunOS 5.8: catman, man, whatis, apropos and makewhatis patch111570-01: SunOS 5.8: uucp patchTable 2-1 Solaris 8 Patch List (Continued)
