Installation OverviewChapter 6 Installing Certificate Management System 213Before You Begin the InstallationBefore you start installing Certificate Management System, follow theseinstructions:• If you’re not familiar with Certificate Management System, you might find ituseful to run a demo installation first; see Chapter 3, “Default DemoInstallation.”• If you want to install the Certificate Manager as a root CA:m Read and fill in the information requested in the Certificate Managerinstallation worksheet; see “Certificate Manager Configuration” onpage 193.m Decide whether you want to create clones of the CA. If you do, determinethe serial number ranges for each CA.• If you want to install the Certificate Manager as a subordinate CA:m Read and fill in the information requested in the Certificate Managerinstallation worksheet; see “Certificate Manager Configuration” onpage 193.m Identify the CA to which you’ll submit the subordinate CA’s CA signingcertificate and SSL server certificate requests. Make sure the CA is runningand, if required, identify the forms you’ll use to submit these requests.m If the CA is a third-party CA, familiarize with the enrollment interface ofthat CA and check how long does the CA take to send you the certificates.m Decide whether you want to create clones of the CA.
