Remove the battery if the camera will not be used for anextended period. Do not store the camera with naphtha or camphor moth balls, orin any of the following locations:• Next to equipment that produces strong electromagnetic fields, such astelevisions or radios• Exposed to temperatures below -10 °C (14 °F) or above 50 °C (122 °F)• Poorly ventilated or subject to humidities of over 60 %To prevent mold or mildew, take the camera out of storage at least once a month.Turn the camera on and release the shutter a few times before putting the cameraaway again.C Notes on the Monitor• The monitor may contain a few pixels that are always lit or that do not light. This is a characteristiccommon to all TFT LCD displays, and does not indicate a malfunction. Images recorded using theproduct will not be affected.• Images on the monitor may be difficult to see under bright lighting.• The monitor is lit by an LED backlight. Should the monitor begin to dim or flicker, contact yourNikon-authorized service representative.• White or colored streaks of light may be visible on the monitor with framing of bright subjects. Thisphenomenon, known as “smear,” occurs when extremely bright light strikes the image sensor. Thisis due to characteristics of the image sensor and does not indicate a malfunction. Smear may alsocause partial discoloration in monitor display with shooting. Smear does not affect recordedimages except when shooting with Continuous set to Multi-shot 16 and when recordingmovies. When shooting in these modes, avoiding bright objects such as the sun, reflections of thesun, and electric lights is recommended.
