144Basic Camera Setup: The Setup MenuShooting, Playback and Setup MenusRecord OrientationChoose whether or not camera orientation is recorded with shooting.Picture orientation information can be modified from the Rotate image option inthe playback menu (A 131).B Notes on Record Orientation• When shooting with the shutter-release button held down, camera orientation information isfixed at that of the first picture in each burst, and the same orientation information is recordedwith all pictures in the burst.• When pictures are taken with the lens pointing up or down, camera orientation information maynot be accurately recorded.• When the camera is rotated during playback, the picture displayed is also rotated (A 11).Auto OffIf no operations are performed for the selected length of time, the monitor willturn off and the camera enters standby mode (A 17) to reduce drain on thebatteries. The power-on lamp blinks in standby mode. If no operations areperformed for another three minutes, the camera will turn off automatically.Choose the time allowed to elapse before the camera enters standby mode if nooperations are performed from 30 s, 1 min (default setting), 5 min, and 30 min.B Notes on Auto OffRegardless of the option selected, the monitor will remain on as follows.• When menus are displayed: three minutes• During HD Pictmotion slide show playback: up to 30 minutes• When no smiling face is detected while shooting with the smile timer: five minutes (30 minuteswhen Auto off is set to 30 min)• When the AC adapter is connected: 30 minutes (auto off does not function while the camera isconnected to a TV)Auto (default setting)Camera orientation information is recorded when shooting.
