Hence whilethese displays may contain pixels thatare always lit (white, red, blue, or green)or always off (black), this is not amalfunction and has no effect onimages recorded with the device.• White or colored streaks may be visiblewhen bright subjects are framed in themonitor. This phenomenon, known as“smear,” occurs when extremely brightlight strikes the image sensor; it ischaracteristic of image sensors and doesnot indicate a malfunction. Smear mayalso take the form of partialdiscoloration in the monitor duringshooting. It does not appear in imagessaved with the camera except in thecases of movies and of images savedwith Multi-shot 16 selected forContinuous.
