With the camera in any user set, press theFlash/ISO button on the back of the camerauntil the slow sync icon is displayed on thecontrol panel and monitor.2. When finished, to return to the default settingpress the Flash/ISO button until AUTO and thelightning bolt icon are displayed on the controlpanel and no flash icon is displayed on themonitor.Turning the Flash Off and On1. With the camera in any user set, press theFlash/ISO button on the back of the camerauntil the flash cancel icon (a lightning bolt in acircle with a slash through it) is displayed onthe control panel and monitor.2. When finished, to return to the default setting,press the Flash/ISO button until AUTO and thelightning bolt icon are displayed on the controlpanel and no flash icon is displayed on themonitor.Taking Macro Close-ups1. With the camera in any user set, press the AF/MF button on the back of the camera until themacro close-up flower blossom icon is dis-played, or the macro icon and a sweepingsecond hand icon if you are using macro withthe self-timer (page 58).2. Compose the photo on the monitor. To frameand focus the image, use the zoom buttons, andmove the camera closer to or farther from thesubject. When zoomed to the range whereextreme close-ups are possible, the macro iconon the monitor turns yellow.3. Press the shutter button halfway down to lockin focus then all the way down to take thepicture.Increasing depth of Field in Close-ups■■■■■ Increase the illumination of the subject to stopdown the aperture.■■■■■ Don’t get any closer to the subject than you haveto.■■■■■ Focus on something in the middle of the scene(front to back) since in close-ups, depth of field ishalf in front and half behind the plane of criticalfocus.Adjusting Brightness and Contrast1. With the camera in user set 1, 2, or 3, press theMENU button.2. Press the up or down point on the MultiSelector to highlight the IMAGE ADJUST-MENT icon and then press the right point todisplay a submenu of choices.3. Press the up or down point on the MultiSelector to highlight your choice and then pressthe right point to set it.4. Press the MENU button twice to hide themenu.Specifying Image Sharpness1. With the camera in user set 1, 2, or 3, press theMENU button.2. Press the up or down point on the MultiSelector to highlight the IMAGE SHARPEN-ING icon on tab 2 of the menu, then press theright point to display a submenu.3.
