17Charging the BatteryFirst StepsTurning On and Off the CameraTo turn on the camera, press the power switch. Thepower-on lamp (green) will light for a moment and themonitor will turn on.To turn off the camera, press the power switch again.When the camera is turned off, both the power-onlamp and monitor will turn off.If the camera is turned off, hold down the c button to turn the camera on inplayback mode (A 29).C Power Saving Function (Auto Off)If no operations are performed for a while, the monitor will turn off automatically, the camera willenter standby mode, and the power-on lamp will blink. If no operations are performed for anotherthree minutes, the camera will turn off automatically.• If no operations are performed for about a minute (default setting) in shooting or playback mode,the camera will enter standby mode.• When the monitor has turned off in standby mode (the power-on lamp is blinking), press thefollowing button to reactivate it.- Power switch, shutter-release button, A button, c button, or b (movie-record) button• The time allowed to elapse before the camera enters standby mode can be changed from theAuto off option (A 137) in the setup menu (A 124).
