If other flash units are used, shutterspeed is set to 1/250 s. When the camera shows a shutterspeed of 1/250 s in exposure mode P or A, auto FP high-speed sync will be activated if the actual shutter speed isfaster than 1/250 s. If the flash unit supports auto FP high-speed sync, shutter speeds as fast as 1/8000 s can beselected by the camera (modes P and A) or by the user(modes S and M).1/250 s–1/60 s Flash sync speed set to selected value.A Fixing Shutter Speed at the Flash Sync Speed LimitTo fix shutter speed at the sync speed limit in shutter-priority auto ormanual exposure modes, select the next shutter speed after theslowest possible shutter speed (30 s or %). An X (flash sync indicator)will be displayed in the viewfinder and control panel.A Auto FP High-Speed SyncAuto FP high-speed sync allows the flash to be used at the highestshutter speed supported by the camera, making it possible to choosethe maximum aperture for reduced depth of field even when thesubject is backlit in bright sunlight. The information display flashmode indicator shows “FP” when auto FP high-speed sync is active.
