92tFlash CompensationFlash compensation is used to alter flash output from the level suggested by thecamera, changing the brightness of the main subject relative to the background.Flash output can be increased to make the main subject appear brighter, or reducedto prevent unwanted highlights or reflections.1 Place the cursor in the information display.If shooting information is not displayed in the monitor, press the R button.Press the P button to place the cursor in the information display.2 Display flash compensation options.Highlight flash compensation in the informationdisplay and press J.3 Choose a value.Highlight a value and press J. Flashcompensation can be set to values between–3 EV (darker) and +1 EV (brighter) in incrementsof 1/ 3 EV. In general, choose positive values tomake the subject brighter, negative values tomake it darker.Normal flash output can be restored by setting flash compensation to ±0.0.
