5 - FORM NO. 56041431 / GW 4512, GW 6016INTRODUCTIONThis manual will help you get the most from your Advance GW 4512/6016.Read it thoroughly before operating the machine.Note: Bold numbers in parentheses indicate an item illustrated on page1 (Figure A).This product is intended for commercial use only.PARTS AND SERVICERepairs, when required, should be performed by your Authorized AdvanceService Center, who employs factory trained service personnel, and maintainsan inventory of Advance original replacement parts and accessories.Call the ADVANCE DEALER named below for repair parts or service. Pleasespecify the Model and Serial number when discussing your machine.(Dealer, affix service sticker here.)NAME PLATEThe Model and Serial Number of your machine are shown on the Nameplate onthe machine. This information is needed when ordering repair parts for themachine. Use the space below to note the Model and Serial Number of yourmachine for future reference.MODELSERIAL NUMBERUNCRATINGWhen the machine is delivered, carefully inspect the shipping carton and themachine for damage. If damage is evident, save the shipping carton so that itcan be inspected. Contact the Advance Customer Service Departmentimmediately to file a freight damage claim.MACHINE ASSEMBLY1 After uncrating, loosen the Handle Adjustment Knobs (12) and swing theHandle (7) upright to a comfortable position.2 If you have an Air Scoop model, install the Squeegee (9), Recovery Hose(8) and Hose Adapter (13) as shown in Figure A.3 If you have a non Air Scoop model, simply install the Hose Adapter (13)a recovery hose and whatever attachments you wish to use.A - KNOW YOUR MACHINE1 Main Power Switch2 Power Head3 Recovery Tank / Chassis4 Squeegee Raise / Lower Pedal (Air Scoop only)5 Drain Hose6 Power Cord7 Handle8 Recovery Hose (Air Scoop only)9 Squeegee (Air Scoop only)10 Power Head Handle11 Power Head Latches12 Handle Adjust Knobs13 Hose Adapter14 Bucket (100V only)TO PICK UP WATER1 If the machine has been used for dry pick-up, remove the Dry Pick-UpFilter (A) and re-install the Float (B) (See Figure B, page 1).2 Place the Power Head (2) on top of the Recovery Tank / Chassis (3) andLatch (11) into place. Make sure that the Main Power Switch (1) is in theOFF position, then plug the Power Cord (6) into a wall outlet.3 If you have an Air Scoop model, re-attach the Squeegee (9) and theRecovery Hose (8). If you have a non Air Scoop model, re-attach therecovery hose.4 Connect the other end of the Recovery Hose (8) to the Squeegee (9) orwand and wet pick-up tool. Accessory hoses, wands and otherattachments are available from your local Advance Dealer.5 Turn the Main Power Switch (1) ON.6 Release the Squeegee Raise/Lower Pedal (4) to lower the Squeegee(9) to the floor. The Squeegee will pick up while moving forward or inreverse. (This step applies to the Air Scoop model only).7 Add a defoamer chemical when picking up soapy water. To adddefoamer, first turn the Main Power Switch (1) OFF. Then remove thePower Head (2) and pour the defoamer chemical into the RecoveryTank / Chassis (3), Bucket (14) on 100V model. See the manufacturer’srecommendations for the proper amount. Put the Power Head (2) backon the Recovery Tank / Chassis (3), Latch (11) into place and turn theMain Power Switch (1) ON. Add defoamer each time the tank (bucket)is emptied.8 The Power Head (2) has an automatic float shutoff to block the vacuumsystem when the tank is full. You can tell when the float closes by thesudden change in the sound of the vacuum motor. When the floatcloses, the tank (bucket) must be emptied. The machine will not pick upwater with the float closed.TO PICK UP DUST AND DIRT1 If the machine has been used for wet pick-up, empty the Recovery Tank/ Chassis (3), Bucket (14) on 100V model, rinse it out and dry itcompletely and install the Dry Pick-Up Filter (See Figure B). To installthe Dry Pick-Up Filter, first pull the Float (B) (Figure B) off of the PowerHead (2). The Float (B) is held in place by rubber retainers and can bepulled off and pushed back on easily. Push the Dry Pick-Up Filter (A)onto the vacuum motor housing as shown in Figure B (the filter fitssnugly over the vacuum motor housing, friction fit).NOTE: DO NOT use the machine for dry pick-up without the Dry Pick-Up Filter (A) (Figure B) in place.2 Re-install the Power Head (2) on top of the Recovery Tank / Chassis (3)and Latch (11) into place.3 Connect the other end of the hose to a wand fitted with a dry pick-up tool.Accessory hoses, wands and other attachments are available from yourlocal Advance Dealer.4 Plug the Power Cord (6) into a wall outlet and turn the Main Power Switch(1) ON.revised 5/99 |
