A15Starting the Machine1. Check oil and fuel levels.2. Check and clean engine dust filter. CAUTION!Never run continuously for more than 1 hour withoutcleaning or changing engine dust filter.3. Check carburetor air filter. Change if necessary.(See “Scheduled Maintenance”)4. Turn propane service valve counterclockwise toopen. CAUTION! Always open service valve slowlyto allow pressure to equalize in hoses. Openingquickly may cause the flow check valve to engage, limiting fuel flow.5. Allow machine to tilt backward (pad off floor) andmove throttle to SLOW (IDLE) position.6. With the engine throttle lever in the idle position, engage the starter by turning the key switch to thestarting position for approximately 5 seconds. Ifthe engine does not start, release the key switchfor 10 seconds, then try to start again in another 5seconds.7. After the engine has started, move the throttleforward approximately halfway and allow the engineto warm up for approximately 30 seconds.WARNING! Catalytic mufflers require a few minutesto warm up before effectively removing harmfulemissions. Make sure of proper ventilation during thiswarm-up period!Burnishing1. After engine has started, allow approximately 30seconds for the engine to warm up.2. Advance the throttle to operating speed.3. Lower the burnishing head to the floor while movingthe machine forward slowly.CAUTION! Do not run the burnisher without movingthe machine. If the machine is allowed to run in onespot, damage to the floor may occur.4. To stop burnishing, push down on handle to raisethe burnishing head off the floor.CAUTION! DO NOT add weight to the burnisherhead.CAUTION! DO NOT lift up on the handle to addpressure while burnishing.Note: To not comply with any of the CAUTION!statements could cause the engine to overheat and/ordamage the padholder or drive components.Note: It is recommended to start burnishing on theright side of the aisle, turn and come back down theaisle in the opposite direction, overlapping the previouspath slightly. Continue this pattern until the floor areato be burnished has been covered with the last passbeing on the right side of the machine. The forwardspeed is generally at normal walking speed.5. When done burnishing, push the machine to thedesired location. Turn off the LP cylinder servicevalve. When the fuel is depleted and the enginestops, turn the key switch OFF.6. Remove the LP cylinder and store properly. Refer toRefueling and Storage of Fuel Cylinders.Idling and Stopping the MachineDANGER! Allowing the engine to idle excessively willincrease carbon monoxide emissions! To stop the engine, close the service valve on the fuelcylinder by turning it clockwise (the engine will stopwhen the fuel in the lines is used up). Once the enginestops, turn the keyswitch off.
