Keeping the batteries chargedmake their life last longer.WARNING!When the batteries are discharged, charge themas soon as possible, as that condition makestheir life shorter.WARNING!If the machine is equipped with lead (WET)batteries, battery charging produces highlyexplosive hydrogen gas. Charge the batteriesin well-ventilated areas and away from nakedÀDPHV'RQRWVPRNHZKLOHFKDUJLQJWKHbatteries.While charging the batteries always keep thehood open.WARNING!Pay careful attention when charging leadEDWWHULHV :(7 DVWKHUHPD\EHEDWWHU\ÀXLGOHDNDJHV7KHEDWWHU\ÀXLGLVFRUURVLYH,Iit comes in contact with skin or eyes, rinsethoroughly with water and consult a physician.1. Drive the machine on a level ground and engage theparking brake.2. Turn the ignition key (61) to “0”.3. Open the battery compartment hood (18) with the handle(41) and fasten it with the support rod (52).4. (For WET batteries only). Check the level of electrolyteinside the batteries (42). If necessary, top up through theFDSV /HDYHWKHFDSV RSHQIRUWKHQH[WEDWWHU\charge. If necessary, clean the upper surface of thebatteries.5. Charge the batteries according to one of the followingmethods, depending on the presence of the electronicbattery charger (32) (optional).Charging the batteries with an external batterychargerCheck that the battery charger is suitable by referring tothe Battery Charger Manual. The battery charger voltagerating is 24 V.CAUTION!Use a battery charger suitable for the type ofbatteries installed.6. Disconnect the battery connector (45) and connect it to theH[WHUQDOEDWWHU\FKDUJHU7. Connect the battery charger to the electrical mains.8. After charging, disconnect the battery connector (45) fromthe battery charger.9. (For WET batteries only). Check the level of electrolyteinside the batteries and close all the caps (43).10. Reconnect the battery connector (45) to the machineconnector.11. Remove the support rod (52) and close the hood (18). Nowthe machine is ready to be used.Charging the batteries with the on board batterycharger (optional)NOTETurn the battery charger switch on WET or GEL-AGMaccording to the battery type.1. (For WET batteries only). Check the level of electrolyteinside the batteries. If necessary, top up through the caps(43).Then leave all the caps (43) open for battery charging.When the correct level is reached, clean, if necessary, theupper surface of the batteries.2. Connect the battery charger plug (32) to the electricalmains.WARNING!Check that the voltage and frequency shown onthe machine serial number plate (30) match theelectrical mains values.NOTEWhen the battery charger is connected to theelectrical mains, all machine functions areautomatically cut off.3. When the battery charger green warning light (32) turns on,the batteries are charged.4. For further information about the battery charger operation(32), see the Battery Charger Manual.5. Disconnect the battery charger cable (32) from theelectrical mains.6. (For WET batteries only). Close all caps (43).7. Remove the support rod (52) and close the hood (18). Nowthe machine is ready to be used.
