Your choice of a systemaffects the type and amount of charges you incur. By default, your phoneis set to automatically search for the most cost-effective system whileroaming. If your phone can’t find a preferred system, it uses a system basedon the option you choose in the System menu.Note: Before selecting an item in the System menu, contact your serviceprovider to find out how your selection will affect your servicecharges.RoamingRoaming occurs when you use your phone outside its home area. Whileroaming, another service provider’s system handles your call, so the servicerate for the call is usually higher than the rate for calls made within yourhome area. While roaming, the word Roaming and the roaming indicator( ) appear on the Start screen.Note: In some systems, you may need to have a roaming agreement toplace a call. If no roaming agreement has been arranged, a networkoperator may interrupt and request information on how you intendto pay for the call.Service typesIn each wireless service area there are usually two service providers, referredto as type A and type B. When you first set up your wireless service account, your service provider will inform you of which system you will be using(usually type B). This is your home system. The other system (for example, type A) is known as a non-home-type system.
