Usingthe certificate can help you to improve the security of connections between your phone and a WAPgateway or WAP server, if the Connection security option is set to On.You can download the certificate from a WAP page if the WAP service supports the use of securitycertificates. After the download, you can view the certificate and then save or delete it. If you save thecertificate, it is added to the list of certificates in the phone. You can only be sure that a WAP gateway or WAP server is the one it claims to be after its identity hasbeen checked against the corresponding certificate in the phone. You will see a note on the phone display if the identity of the WAP server or WAP gateway cannot beverified, the WAP server or WAP gateway certificate is not authentic or if you do not have the rightcertificate in your phone. To view the list of security certificates:In the Services menu, select Settings and then Authority certificates.Security iconIf the security icon ( ) is displayed during a WAP connection, the data transmission between thephone and the WAP gateway or WAP server, identified by the IP address setting in the Connectionsettings, is encrypted and secure. However, the security icon does not indicate that the data transmission between the gateway and thecontent server (place where the requested resource is stored) is secure. It is up to the service providerto secure the data transmission between the gateway and the content server.
