Network serviceYou can set your phone to automatically download maps that you do not have in yourphone when needed. Select Menu > Maps > Settings > Network settings > Allownetwork usage.To prevent automatic download of maps, select No.Downloading maps may involve the transmission of large amounts of data through yourservice provider’s network. Contact your service provider for information about datatransmission charges.Maps and GPSYou can use the global positioning system (GPS) to support the Maps application. Findout your location, or measure distances and coordinates.Before you can use the GPS function with your phone, you must pair your phone with acompatible external GPS receiver using Bluetooth wireless technology. For moreinformation, see the user guide for your GPS device.After pairing the Bluetooth GPS device with the phone, it may take several minutes forthe phone to display the current location. Subsequent connections should be faster, butif you have not used GPS for several days, or are very far away from the last place youused it, it may take several minutes to detect and display your location.The Global Positioning System (GPS) is operated by the government of the United States,which is solely responsible for its accuracy and maintenance. The accuracy of locationdata can be affected by adjustments to GPS satellites made by the United Statesgovernment and is subject to change with the United States Department of Defense civilGPS policy and the Federal Radionavigation Plan. Accuracy can also be affected by poorsatellite geometry. Availability and quality of GPS signals may be affected by yourlocation, buildings, natural obstacles, and weather conditions. The GPS receiver shouldonly be used outdoors to allow reception of GPS signals.Any GPS should not be used for precise location measurement, and you should neverrely solely on location data from the GPS receiver and cellular radio networks forpositioning or navigation.Extra servicesYou can upgrade Maps with a full voice-guided navigation, which requires a regionallicence. To use this service, you need a compatible external GPS device that supportsBluetooth wireless technology.To purchase a navigation service with voice guidance, select Menu > Maps > Extraservices > Purchase navigation, and follow the instructions.To use navigation with voice guidance, you must allow the Maps application to use anetwork connection.The navigation licence is connected to your SIM card.
