Push to talkPush to talk (PTT) over cellular is a two-way radio service available over aGSM/GPRS cellular network (networkservice). PTT provides direct voicecommunication. To connect, press andhold the volume up (PTT) key.You can use PTT to have a conversationwith one person or with a group ofpeople having compatible devices.When your call is connected,the person or group you are callingdoes not have to answer the phone.The participants should confirm thereception of any communicationswhere appropriate, as there is no otherconfirmation whether the recipientshave heard the call.To check availability and costs, and tosubscribe to the service, contact yourservice provider. Roaming services maybe more limited than for normal calls.Before you can use the PTT service,you must define the required PTTservice settings. See “PTT settings”,p. 61.While you are connected to the PTTservice, you can use the otherfunctions of the phone. The PTT overcellular service is not connected totraditional voice communication,and therefore many of the servicesavailable for traditional voice calls(for example, voice mailbox) are notavailable for PTT over cellularcommunications.■ Push to talk menuSelect Menu > Push to talk.To connect to or disconnect from thePTT service, select Switch PTT on orSwitch PTT off.To view the received callback requests,select Callback inbox.To view the list of PTT channels, selectChannel list.To view the list of contacts to whichyou have added the PTT addressreceived from the service provider,select Contacts list.To add a new PTT channel to the phone,select Add channel.To set the PTT settings for use, selectPTT settings.To set the required settings for the PTTconnection, select Config. settings.To open the browser and to connect tothe PTT network portal provided by theservice provider, select Web.
