55Predictive text inputNote: The predictive text feature is based on a built-indictionary to which you can add words. Your phone includesseveral different language versions of this dictionary. Althoughyour phone may be able to display a given language on thescreen, it does not necessarily contain a predictive textdictionary of that same language.Predictive mode is indicated by the presence of the predictivetext icon ( ) at the top of the display. If the icon does notappear, predictive mode has been deactivated. To activate it,press Options. Scroll to Predictive text. Scroll until the nameof the language in which you want to edit your messageappears. Press OK.Writing wordsTo write a word, press each key only once for each letter ofthe word. For example, to write hello, press 4 3 5 5 6. Thecharacters that you enter appear underlined. The word changesafter each keystroke, so try not to pay attention to how theword appears on the display until you have pressed all theappropriate keys.When you finish writing the word, check to ensure that theword is correct. If the word is correct, enter a space (press) and write the next word. If the word is incorrect and isunderlined, press repeatedly until the desired wordappears, OR press Options, scroll to Matches, then press OK.Your phone displays a list of words. Choose a word from thelist, then press Use, OR, press to exit and return to themessage editor.If the ? character appears after the word, there are no morewords in the dictionary that correspond to your key presses.At this point, you can add the word to the dictionary bypressing Spell.Writing compound wordsTo quickly write a compound word (for example, bluejay):1 Write the first part (blue).
