This is an indication that the message has been sent byyour device to the message center number programmed into your device.This is not an indication that the message has been received at theintended destination. Messages may containmalicious software or otherwise be harmful to your device or PC.Only devices that have compatible features can receive and displaymessages. The appearance of a message may vary depending on thereceiving device.■ Text messages (SMS)You can use the short message service (SMS) to send and receive multipartmessages made of several ordinary text messages (network service) that cancontain pictures.Before you can send any text, picture, or message, you must save your messagecenter number. See "Message settings," p. 28.To check SMS e-mail service availability and to subscribe to the service, contactyour service provider.Your device supports the sending of text messages beyond the character limit for asingle message. Longer messages will be sent as a series of two or more messages.Your service provider may charge accordingly. Characters that use accents or othermarks, and characters from some language options like Chinese, take up morespace limiting the number of characters that can be sent in a single message.At the top of the display, you can see the message length indicator that tracks thenumber of characters available. For example, 10/2 means that you can still add10 characters for the text to be sent as two messages.Write and send an SMS1. Select Menu > Messages > Create message > Text message.
