Push to talkPush to talk (PTT) over cellular is atwo-way radio service availableover a GSM/GPRS cellular network(network service). PTT providesdirect voice communication. Toconnect, press and hold thevolume up (PTT) key.You can use PTT to have aconversation with one person orwith a group of people havingcompatible devices. When yourcall is connected, the person orgroup you are calling does nothave to answer the phone. Theparticipants should confirm thereception of any communicationswhere appropriate, as there is noother confirmation whether therecipients have heard the call.To check availability and costs,and to subscribe to the service,contact your service provider.Roaming services may be morelimited than for normal calls.Before you can use the PTT service,you must define the required PTTservice settings. See “PTT settings,”p. 79.While you are connected to thePTT service, you can use the otherfunctions of the phone. The PTTover cellular service is notconnected to traditional voicecommunication, and thereforemany of the services available fortraditional voice calls (forexample, voice mailbox) are notavailable for PTT over cellularcommunications.■ Push to talk menuSelect Menu > Push to talk.To connect to or disconnect fromthe PTT service, select Switch PTTon or Switch PTT off.To view the received callbackrequests, select Callback inbox.To view the list of PTT channels,select Channel list.To view the list of contacts towhich you have added the PTTaddress received from the serviceprovider, select Contacts list.To add a new PTT channel to thephone, select Add channel.To set the PTT settings for use,select PTT settings.To set the required settings for thePTT connection, select Config.settings.
