[ 81 ]Manage phone security1212 Manage phone securityYour phone is equipped with a versatile security system that is intendedto prevent unauthorized use of the phone.You cannot activate or use certain phone features without having firstsuccessfully entered your phone’s security code.• The default (preset) security code is 12345.• Nokia highly recommends that you immediately change this code.Then, write down and store the new code in a safe place, away fromyour phone.Tips:• When you enter the security code, a * appears on the screen eachtime you press a key. The * prevents others from seeing your code.• If you enter the wrong security code five times in a row, your phonewill not accept any entries for the next five minutes. However, ifyou realize that you’ve entered the code incorrectly before pressingOK, you can use Clear to erase the code, digit by digit, beginningwith the last digit.• CHANGE YOUR SECURITY CODEIt’s a good idea to change your security code so that others who know thedefault code cannot enter the correct code.1 Press Menu 4-7-2-1 (Settings > Security settings > Access codes >Change security code).2 The Security code field appears.3 Enter the default security code and press OK.4 At the message Enter new security code, enter your new securitycode and press OK.5 At the message Verify new security code, enter your new securitycode again and press OK.
