26 Copyright © 2004 Nokia8 Phone security• LOCK THE KEYPAD (KEYGUARD)Keyguard disables your keypad to preventaccidental key presses (for example, when yourphone is in your pocket or purse).• To lock the keys, select Menu and pressthe Star key.• To unlock the keys, select Unlock andpress the Star key.When the Keyguard is enabled, the keypad anddisplay cannot light if you press a key. Press thepower button briefly to activate the keypad anddisplay lights.Note: When the Keyguard is on, callsstill may be possible to the official emergency number programmed intoyour phone. Enter the emergency number and press the Talk key.Automatic KeyguardYou can have your phone automatically lock the keys after a time you specify. See“Set automatic Keyguard” on page 60 for more information.• SECURITY LEVELSThe security level determines your access to features when a nonowner SIM cardis used. A nonowner SIM card is one (other than the original) that is inserted afteryou power off the phone. There are three security levels:• Off—Owner and Nonowner cards are treated the same.• Memory—Nonowner cards can access SIM memory. Any changes to thememory setting requires the security code. The owner card has access to allfeatures, but the security code is required to change a memory setting.• Phone—The security code is required upon power-up.Use this procedure to set your security level.1 Select Menu > Settings > Security settings > Security level.After a brief pause, you are prompted to enter the security code. The defaultcode is 12345.2 Enter the security code, select OK, then select either Off, Memory, or Phone.
