Your Nokia N8019View memory consumptionTo view what types of data you have in the device and howmuch memory the different data types consume, selectOptions > Memory details. The amount of available freememory is shown in Free memory.Memory low—free memoryThe device notifies you if the device or the memory cardmemory is low.To free device memory, transfer data to a compatiblememory card, if you have one. Mark files to be moved, andselect Move to folder > Memory card, and a folder.You can also transfer media files to a compatible PC, forexample, using the transfer option in Gallery. See ‘Back-upfiles’, p. 33.Tip! You can use Nokia Phone Browser available inNokia PC Suite to view the different memories in yourdevice and transfer data.To remove data to free memory, use File mgr., or go to therespective application. For example, you can remove thefollowing:• Messages from Inbox, Drafts, and Sent folders inMessag.• Retrieved e-mail messages from the device memory• Saved web pages• Saved images, videos, or sound files• Contact information• Calendar notes• Downloaded applications. See also ‘Applicationmanager’, p. 113.• Any other data that you no longer needAfter you install applications to a compatible memorycard, installation files (.sis) remain in the device memory.The files may use large amounts of memory and preventyou from storing other files. To maintain sufficientmemory, use Nokia PC Suite to back up installation files toa compatible PC, then use the file manager to removeinstallation files from the device memory. See ‘Filemanager’, p.18. If the .sis file is a message attachment,delete the message from the messaging inbox.Useful shortcutsUse shortcuts to quickly get the most from your device.Refer to the relevant sections in this user guide for furtherdetails of the functions.Standby mode• To switch between applications that are open, pressand hold , and select an application. If memory islow, the device may close some applications. Thedevice saves any unsaved data before closing anapplication.
