Inthe UMTS network, data connections remain activeduring voice calls.You can also use a WLAN data connection. Only oneconnection in one wireless LAN can be active at a time,but several applications can use the same internetaccess point.To establish a data connection, an access point isrequired. You can define different kinds of accesspoints, such as the following:● MMS access point to send and receive multimediamessages● Internet access point (IAP) to send and receive e-mail and connect to the internetCheck the type of access point you need with yourservice provider for the service you want to access. Foravailability and subscription to packet data connectionservices, contact your service provider.Network settingsSelect Menu > Settings and Connectivity >Network.Your device can automatically switch between GSM andUMTS networks. GSM networks are indicated with .UMTS networks are indicated with .An active high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA)connection (network service) is indicated with .Select from the following:● Network mode — Select which network to use. Ifyou select Dual mode, the device uses the GSM orUMTS network automatically, according to thenetwork parameters and the roaming agreementsbetween the wireless service providers.
