23M e s s a g i n g■ Type and send messagesYour phone supports text messages beyond the limit for a single message. Longer messagesare sent as two or more messages. AT&T may charge accordingly. Characters with accents orother marks, and characters from some language options, take up more space and limit thenumber of characters that can be sent in a single message.The wireless network may limit the size of MMS messages. If the inserted picture exceedsthis limit, the phone may make it smaller so that it can be sent by MMS.Only devices that have compatible features can receive and display multimedia messages.The appearance of a message may vary depending on the receiving device.1. Select > Messaging > Messages > New message and the message type. To create atext message or multimedia message, select Message, or in the standby mode, press themessaging key. The message type changes automatically based on the content.Tip: To change the message font size, select Options > Font size and thedesired size.2. In the To: field, enter the phone numbers or e-mail addresses of the recipients, or to selectrecipients from Address Book, press the scroll key. Separate recipients with a semicolon (;).3. Enter the subject for a multimedia, or e-mail message in the subject field. If the subjectfield is not visible for a multimedia message, select Options > Message header fields,mark Subject, and select OK.4. Enter the content in the message field.When you type a text message, the message length indicator shows how many charactersyou can enter in the message. For example, 10 (2) means that you can still add 10 charactersfor the text to be sent as a series of two text messages.To insert an object, such as an image, video clip, note, or a business card, to a multimedia ore-mail message, select Options > Insert content. Use the scroll key to switch betweenthe icons at the bottom of the message. Press the scroll key, or select Select to insert thecontent.To record a new sound clip for an audio message, select Insert audio clip > New. To use apreviously recorded sound clip, select Insert audio clip > From My Stuff.5. To send the message, select Options > Send.■ InboxThe Inbox folder contains received text and multimedia messages. To read receivedmessages, select > Messaging > Messages > Inbox and the message.To view the list of media objects that are included in the multimedia message, open themessage, and select Options > Objects.
