6Safety PrecautionsChapter 2. – Safety RegulationsProper care is your responsibility. Carefully readand understand the Operating Information in thisguide before operating the Noritz Combi Boiler.Be fully aware of where the gas shut-off valve islocated and how to operate it.Close the gas shut-off valve immediately if theappliance is subjected to fire, overheating, flood,physical damage, or any other damaging conditionthat might affect the operation of the unit.The Combi Boiler must be checked by a qualifiedtechnician before resuming operation.DO NOT use this Combi Boiler if any part hasbeen under water, call a qualified technicianimmediately for inspecting the Combi Boiler andfor replacing any part of the control system andany gas control which has been under water.Do not power up the unit unless the gas and watersupply valves are fully opened. Make sure that freshair intake flue and exhaust gas flue are opened andfunctional.DO NOT attempt to install, repair, or service theCombi Boiler by yourself.Contact a qualified technician if the Combi Boilerneeds repair or maintenance.Ask your gas supplier for a list of qualified serviceproviders.˝Verify proper operation after servicing operation˝The gas ignition system components must beprotected from water (dripping, spraying, rain, etc.)during appliance operation and service (circulatorreplacement, condensate trap, control replacement,etc.)PRODUCTS TO AVOID AREAS LIKELY TO HAVE CONTAMINANTSSpray cans containing fluorocarbons Dry cleaning/laundry areas and establishmentsPermanent wave solutions Swimming poolsChlorinated waxes/cleaners Metal fabrication plantsChlorine-based swimming pool chemicals Beauty shopsCalcium chloride used for thawing Refrigeration repair shopsSodium chloride used for water softening Photo processing plantsRefrigerant leaks Auto body shopsPaint or varnish removers Plastic manufacturing plantsHydrochloric or Muriatic acid Furniture refinishing areas and establishmentsCements and glues New building constructionAntistatic fabric softeners used in clothes dryers Remodeling areasChlorine-type bleaches, laundry detergents, and cleaning solvents Garages and workshopsDo not operate the Combi Boiler if its combustion air intake is located in or near one of the areas or in the vicinity of products listed inTable. These areas will always contain hazardous contaminates that can form strong acids while passing through the burner and ventsystem. These acids will corrode the Combi Boiler’s heat exchanger, burner components and vent system, resulting in flue gas spillageand/or water leakage, possible substantial property damage, severe personal injury, or death. If the Combi Boiler combustion air intakeis located in any area likely to cause or contain contamination, or if products which would contaminate the air cannot be removed, theintake must be re-piped and terminated to another location.WARNINGDANGERSafety Precautions
