A system maycomprise of just one burner and one vacuum fan, tomultiple burners in multiple radiant branches with one ormore vacuum fans.To enable exact matching of operational needs within anarea, distances between burners and ratings of the burnerscan vary. The unique feature of Nor-Ray-Vac ‘M’ series is amodulating radiant system which provides uniform heatcoverage of the floor area, eliminating hot/cold spots. The tube into which the burners are mounted and overwhich the reflectors are fitted and emits the maximum heatis called the radiant tube. The radiant heat emitted from thehot tube is directed downwards by reflectors. Theremaining interconnecting tube is called the tail pipe andradiates with less intensity. The operating temperatures of the tubes generally rangefrom 200°C – 480°C max.The action of the vacuum fan is three fold; to create a highnegative pressure within the radiant tube and tail pipe soas to discharge the spent products of combustion from thesystem to a point outside the building being heated; tocontrol the flow of gas and air through each burner instoichiometric proportions; to draw carrier air into thetube system at the start of each radiant branch, in order todistribute the heat from the flame along the tube.Ducted air inlet kits are also available for contaminated ordusty environments. Each heater is fitted with a burner which has been test firedand pre-set prior to despatch. The safety functions of theburner are by way of a fully sequential control box fitted tothe burner.NoteNeither asbestos nor soft soldered joints are used in theconstruction or manufacture of the Nor-Ray-Vac ‘M’ series. The materials selected for use can withstand themechanical, chemical, and thermal stresses which they willbe subject to during foreseen normal use when installed inaccordance with the manufacturers recommendations.1.4 Model DefinitionsNRVxxM-EV = Nor-Ray-Vac modulating continuous radianttube heater only for use with branch endconfigurations.NRVxxM-IL = Nor-Ray-Vac modulating continuous radianttube heater only for use with in-line configurations.xx denotes kW rating. Models available; 24, 32, 38 and 461.5 General requirementsCautionBefore installation, check that the local distributionconditions, nature of gas and pressure, and adjustment ofthe appliance are compatible.
