32 Chapter 2 Cabling the VPN Router and turning the power onNN46110-308 02.01Connecting the power cordYou must order the power cord for the VPN Router 600 separately.The power cord must meet the requirements described in Table 3.To connect the power cord and turn on the system power:1 Plug the cable attached to the external power pack into the receptacle labeled“DC Input” on the rear of the VPN Router 600 (Figure 2 on page 31).Locate the word “top” on the plug end of the cable and align that part of thecable with the arrow printed above the DC input port.Caution: Risk of equipment damageDo not modify or use the AC power cord if it is not the exact type that isrequired for your power outlet.Table 3 Power cord requirementsRequirement DescriptionCurrent rating The power cord must be rated for the available AC voltage andmust have a current rating that is at least 125 percent of thegateway’s current rating (100—240 VAC).Certification The power cord must have certification marks from anacceptable regional agency.Cord length and flexibility The power cord must be less than 4.5 meters (14.7 feet) long.It must be a flexible HAR (harmonized) cord or VDE-certifiedcordage to comply with the gateway’s safety certifications.Power supply connector The connector that you plug into the AC receptacle on theVPN Router 600 power supply must be an IEC 320, SheetC13 female.Wall outlet connector The power cord must terminate in a male plug withappropriate grounding.Caution: Before you connect the power supply to the gateway, connectthe cables to the Ethernet and serial ports and to the ports on the installedoption card.
