26 Chapter 1 Hardware overviewNN46110-313 02.01Connecting the power cordYou must order the power cord for the VPN Router 1010/1050/1100 separately.The power cord must meet the requirements described in Table 2.To connect the power cord and turn on the power:1 Plug the power cord into the AC receptacle on the external power supplyshipped with the VPN Router 1010/1050/1100.Caution: Risk of equipment damageDo not modify or use the AC power cord if it is not the exact type that isrequired for your power outlet.Table 2 Power cord requirementsRequirement DescriptionCurrent rating The power cord must be rated for the available AC voltageand must have a current rating that is at least 125 percent ofthe gateway’s current rating (1.5 A).Certification The power cord must have certification marks from anacceptable regional agency.Cord length and flexibility The power cord must be less than 4.5 meters (14.7 feet) long.It must be a flexible HAR (harmonized) cord or VDE-certifiedcordage to comply with the gateway’s safety certifications.Power supply connector The connector that you plug into the AC receptacle on thegateway power supply must be an IEC 320, Sheet C5 female.Wall outlet connector The power cord must terminate in a male plug withappropriate grounding.Caution: Before you connect the power supply to the gateway, connectthe cables to the Ethernet and serial ports. If you have a VPN Router1100, also connect the cables to the ports on any installed option cards.
